Hi Drew - how nice to see this Substack! While I agree with you in principle, I have to tell you about me and Mary Shelley. I wrote about her in my November, 2023 newsletter, and the relationship has gotten more intense since then! Blessings, Deb
Deb, I love your Mary Shelley collaboration -- I am not meaning to negate the co-writing experience with Spirit, which I do frequently. Separately, I am wanting to burst the centuries-old bubble belief that the Muse has to permit us to become inspired, versus empowering ourselves to create by harnessing the windows of time we are most productive. Inspiration is within us, so is guidance, and I just think we need to veer away from being at the mercy of a mercurial exterior Muse who strikes only on occasion. I think it's a misunderstanding about inspiration.
Oh Drew, I so agree with you. I think of Mary as a supporter, a guide, rather than a task-master who permits (or not) us to be inspired, striking when s/he chooses. Samantha gave me a book on writing ideas based on Tarot for Yule, and guess who was there as an example - indeed she was! I think of Mary as showing up when I need her, rather than when she chooses. Blessings, Deb
